Corona virus as a business owner.

Currently the situation is as follows:

I have had five events and two projects rescheduled, which means that all of my business income this month is as of this moment - nonexistent.

I don't say this for you to pity me or feel bad, I say this so that you understand exactly what the majority of small business owners are going through at the moment. Whether it's a lack of customers wandering the streets and into stores, or whether it's needing to pay rent next month with no clue where finances are going to appear from, that's the reality we are in. Whether it's just a business of one, or whether it's a company with multiple employees - it's a stressful time to be a business owner.

A lot of photographers rely on events in order to make a living. Whether it's weddings, business events, hosting workshops, or many other options - when all of the above are starting to get moved or cancelled, it can be a bit scary.

But here's how I'm staying sane in the midst of all of it:

No. 1 - Focusing on what is in my control.

Literally the only thing that is in my control is making sure that I do my part in society to stop or slow down the spread of this disease. So wash your hands, stop spreading panic, stay home when possible and avoid big gatherings or crowds.

No. 2 - Think of your neighbour.

As bad as your situation is, it could be much worse for the person next to you. So in everything, think of the person who lives next door to you or sits next to you on public transport, and assess how you can help to ensure they don't get the disease. Maybe don't go raid the stores and take all the toilet paper so we make sure everyone will be able to have some? Just a thought.

No. 3 - Focus on the positive.

Instead of reading fear-inducing news articles, focus on the facts and fill yourself with hope.

For those of you who have steady employment, who know that you're going to be working from home or that you will get sick leave / steady pay-check next month - this next part is for you.

PLEASE consider supporting local businesses this month in whatever capacity you can.

Whether it's purchasing products or services, whether it's sharing people's work on social media / recommending services to your friends (which is a 100% free way to support entrepreneurs by the way), or whether it's simply writing people and checking in on them - every little bit helps.

It's a stressful time to be alive. Let's wrap around each other, support each other, lift each other up and ensure that we can keep living out our dreams for the long haul.

LOVE YOU GUYS. KEEP SPREADING LOVE BUT MAYBE DON'T HUG ANYONE WHO ISN'T YOUR PARTNER FOR A WEE WHILE, OK? x
